CrossFit Open – Address your weaknesses

Just a quick thought on how to win (…or better, to loose…) in the CF open:

The scoring system is particular as all athletes who participate (tens of thousands I believe) are ranked, the ranks are then added up, and the winner is the one who has the smallest overall number. This system is extremely punishing, in that – for good athletes – not much can be gained when getting a bit better (10 or 100, who cares?) but a lot can be lost in a weak workout (place 10,000 anyone?).

The strategy to win the Open is hence not to trying to be good in some areas, but not to be too weak in any areas – this is great, and true CrossFit: general fitness is rewarded, specialist fitness is punished. Well done, whoever developed the scoring system!
